R. Jordan Smyth, Jr., CFA
President, Senior Wealth Advisor
Jordan founded Glassy Mountain Advisors after 18 years with Edgemoor Investment Advisors, where he developed and managed client relationships, provided asset allocation advice and wealth management planning, conducted equities research, and served as co-manager of an equity mutual fund and a member of the firm’s investment selection committee. Before joining Edgemoor in 2003, Jordan worked for nine years in investment banking, most recently as a Director in the mergers and acquisitions advisory group at Wachovia Securities.
Jordan serves on the board and as treasurer of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Educational Foundation and serves on the Washington, DC Advisory Board of the North Carolina Outward Bound School. He previously served as a member of the board of the Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter (chair 2012-2015), a member of the board of the North Carolina Outward Bound School, and a member of the Phillips Academy Alumni Council and Andover Development Board. Jordan is also a member of the Leadership Greater Washington class of 2019.
Jordan holds an MBA from Harvard’s Graduate School of Business Administration and was a Morehead Scholar at the University of North Carolina, where he received a BA in English with Highest Honors and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Jordan also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst ® designation.
Jordan enjoys playing tennis and platform tennis, watching Tar Heels basketball, boating, fly fishing, and going to concerts with friends. Above all, he likes doing anything with his three sons.
Matt Altman, CFP ®
Wealth Advisor
Matt joined Glassy Mountain Advisors with over a decade of experience in financial services, most recently working for Copperleaf Capital as a Financial Advisor. In this role, he developed and managed client relationships; created, implemented, and monitored financial plans; served as advisor to company 401k plans; provided asset allocation advice; and served on the firm’s investment committee. Before joining Copperleaf, Matt spent most of his career as a Financial Consultant for Fidelity Investments and Charles Schwab, where he provided financial planning and investment advice for high-net-worth individuals and families. His areas of expertise include retirement planning, income planning, wealth accumulation, tax-efficient investing, education planning, charitable giving, and estate planning.
Matt received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with double minors in History, and Social and Economic Justice, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also holds a Certificate in Financial Planning from Northwestern University and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
Matt lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife and three children, and serves on the board of trustees for Beth Meyer Synagogue. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and ice hockey, traveling, cooking, and rooting for the UNC Tar Heels.
Brian Codato, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Brian joined Glassy Mountain Advisors after three years with Cherry Bekaert’s Valuation Services group, most recently as a valuation senior associate. In this role, he provided valuation and financial advisory services to public and private enterprises, corporate clients, business development companies, and private equity institutions. Brian also has experience in the areas of complex financial instruments, fixed income, and equity securities. Prior to joining Cherry Bekaert, Brian was with CTS Capital Advisors, a boutique transaction advisory firm that specialized in financial due diligence, valuation, and business advisory services.
Brian received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting, cum laude, from the University of Maryland. In addition, Brian also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst ® designation.
Brian enjoys fishing, playing soccer, and cooking with his wife.
Margaret Horsley , CFP ®
Relationship Manager
Margaret joined Glassy Mountain Advisors after working at Northwestern Mutual as a financial planning associate and Vanguard as a client relationship associate. In those roles she worked alongside financial advisors and clients, building financial plans and conducting money movement.
Margaret received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Wake Forest University, graduating magna cum laude. She is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
Margaret loves going to concerts, running, and attending Wake Forest sporting events.
Mike McIntyre, CFA
Portfolio Management Associate
Mike joined Glassy Mountain Advisors after working at ProShares Advisors as a portfolio analyst on the Domestic Equity trading desk. In this role, he was responsible for daily fund performance and trading of equities, equity swaps, and futures for multiple leveraged exchange-traded funds. Mike also has experience in portfolio modeling, portfolio tax planning, process automation, and fund performance attribution. Prior to joining ProShares, Mike was with T. Rowe Price as a Derivatives Analyst and Morgan Stanley working on fixed income derivatives processing.
Mike received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Maryland while also participating in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Honors program.
Mike enjoys reading, daily walks, and spending time at the shore with his family.
Will McCaffrey
Relationship Manager
Will joined Glassy Mountain Advisors after working as a client service associate at another investment advisory firm, where he assisted with money transfers, new account openings and maintenance, and updating of compliance blotters.
Will received a Bachelor of Science in Business from Virginia Tech, majoring in Finance and graduating magna cum laude. In high school in Richmond, VA, Will became an Eagle Scout.
In his free time, he enjoys running, fishing, hunting, traveling, and live music with friends.
